The ESG Adria Summit, the largest regional event dedicated to sustainable development, innovation and the green agenda, will be held in 2024 under the auspices of the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović, organized by Sustineri Partners and Porto Montenegro and in partnership with the Government of Montenegro.

Milatović opened the first regional ESG Summit of the Western Balkan countries, in April 2023,  when he said that the green agenda and the implementation of activities that are in accordance with the European Green Deal are one of the priorities in the process of Montenegro's accession to the European Union.

"In order for the country to be attractive to investors, it must be competitive, managed in the right way, open and inclusive, but also green. I sincerely believe that the implementation of standards related to environmental protection, social responsibility and management is key to the long-term economic stability and prosperity of Montenegro and the Western Balkans," Milatović said on that occasion.

He called for even stronger regional cooperation on the EU accession journey, so that the countries of the Western Balkans together achieve significant influence and progress in the area of ​​environmental protection, sustainable development, and responsible corporate governance (ESG standards).

The inaugural ESG Summit this year generated great interest, which led to its expansion to the Adria region, so next year's event will also include Croatia and Slovenia, according to the announcement.

"With this Summit, a new chapter on the path of sustainable development was opened and the journey towards better and more socially responsible business and management began. The great interest of the region, the enthusiasm and success of Montenegro as the host of the event, led to the natural development of the Summit and the expansion of the event to the Adria region. The support of the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, to the ESG Adria Summit in 2024 shows great political will and the importance of the ESG agenda for Montenegro on the road to European integration and gives the event even more importance, for which we are especially grateful," said Biljana Braithwaite, founder and CEO of Sustineri Partners.

Next year, as announced, the summit will bring together distinguished quests: presidents from the region, representatives of regional governments, world-renowned experts, business leaders, regional companies and international partners through a joint platform for dialogue on investments, sustainable business, presentation of the world's best ESG practices and innovation, but also the comparative advantages of our region.
