The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye, Fatih Karahan, has been confirmed as one of the keynote speakers at the ESG Adria Summit, a regional forum that brings together leaders from politics, economics, technology, and sustainable development. The Summit will take place from 9–11 April 2025 in Porto Montenegro, and is the region’s premier event dedicated to the ESG agenda – sustainability, social responsibility, and good governance.

Karahan will address Summit participants on 9 April, delivering a keynote speech titled “Sustainable Finance in Emerging Markets: The Role of Central Banks.” His address will highlight the increasingly important role central banks play in promoting sustainable economic policies, mitigating climate risks through monetary instruments, and strengthening green investments in markets facing developmental challenges.

Karahan’s visit to Montenegro comes at a time when global economic stability is becoming more reliant on sustainable financial mechanisms, and central banks are taking a more proactive role in the transition to a green economy.

“For Montenegro, an open economy in the process of EU integration, this exchange of experience and approaches is of immense value – not only in terms of regional positioning but also in guiding domestic policies toward long-term sustainable solutions. The presence of Governor Karahan underscores the growing importance of the Summit as a platform for strategic dialogue between public and private sector leaders. It’s a strong signal that Montenegro is increasingly engaging in global economic trends where sustainability is recognised as a key driver of long-term prosperity,” stated the Summit’s organising team.
Appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Türkiye in February 2024, Fatih Karahan brings extensive international experience. After earning his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, he spent over a decade at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, followed by a role as Chief Economist at Amazon. He has also lectured at Columbia University and NYU, and is considered one of the leading voices of a new generation of economic strategists advocating for proactive and inclusive monetary policy.
