Tikveš Winery has adopted ESG as a strategic paradigm shift, going beyond merely fulfilling standards. With support from the EBRD and financial assistance from the European Union's Western Balkan Enterprise Development and Innovation Facility (EDIF II), this approach highlights Tikveš's dedication to a sustainable future with measurable goals.

Tikveš is the first winery in Southeastern Europe to join the International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA), an association of 40 renowned wineries, including names like Torres, Jackson Family, Opus One, and Symington (Graham's). As a member, Tikveš has committed to the "Race to Zero" by 2050, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero.

This milestone is the latest and one of the most significant commitments Tikveš has made, in addition to:

  • Holding a B-integrated environmental permit since 2011
  • Implementing a Waste Management Program with a 3-year renewal period, including wastewater treatment
  • Maintaining ISO 14001 certification since 2007
  • Constructing a 1.6 MWp renewable solar energy facility, reducing 1,500 tons of CO2 emissions annually
  • Implementing ISO 50001:2018
  • Using lightweight packaging materials
  • Employing Precision Viticulture for efficient crop management through meteorological stations, drip irrigation, and reduced pesticide use by monitoring the grapes
  • Cultivating organic vineyards and producing EU-certified organic wine since the 2022 vintage
  • Focusing on biodiversity as a critical goal for improved soil and crop quality
  • Managing grape growers by helping them understand the need for timely crop management through technology, including complimentary laboratory analysis and expert advice.
