Obnovljivi izvori energije, our esteemed Platinum Sponsor for the upcoming ESG Adria Summit, have demonstrated a strong commitment to energy transition in Montenegro and the wider region. Their mission resonates perfectly with the goals and vision behind ESG Adria Summit 2024, prompting our strategic partnership this year.
Established in 2021, Obnovljivi izvori energije is a collaborative initiative of two companies - Sistem MNE and Simes Inženjering. Since its founding, the company has been committed to promoting and developing renewable energy projects, placing a significant emphasis on solar and wind energy. Their decision to partner with us as the Platinum Sponsor only reiterated their dedication to advancing sustainable practices and fostering positive change in the energy sector.
It was founded by the two companies with a shared commitment to green energy, energy efficiency, and the transition towards a sustainable future. Behind both of them, stand experts and teams with a wealth of experience and expertise in the energy industry.
One of the newly founded company’s flagship projects is the KO Prediš solar power plant, expanding on 490 hectares, in Cetinje. With an estimated installed capacity of 227.8 MWp (200 MWac), this project is valued at 180 million, and it exemplifies the company's striving to power Montenegro's energy efficiency and contribute to a sustainable future based on renewable energy sources.
Ljubiša Bošković, Executive Director at Sistem-mne and co-founder of Obnovljivi izvori energije said: “Energy transition to solar and wind is of vital importance for the country’s future, especially taking into consideration our country’s natural potential for it. Investing in this sector is not just a business decision but a crucial step towards creating a sustainable and eco-friendly future. Obnovljivi izvori energije will remain consistent with that mission. ”
Mr Bošković added: “This new solar plant will provide more than half of what hydro plant Perućica has to offer in terms of installed capacity (307 mHE). Aside from a bigger connection capacity, this technical solution enables better characteristics for the transmission system. ”
Besides many successful projects behind them, both parent companies, Sistem MNE and Simes Inženjering, also have ambitious plans for the future. The most notable being the construction of the Bijela wind farm. This project, set to begin construction in 2025, aims to be the largest wind farm in the Balkans, doubling Montenegro’s wind power capacity. Recognized by Luxembourg-based Alcazar Energy fund, the Bijela wind farm holds significant importance for Montenegro and the region, but also for Europe, offering a sustainable source of electricity and reducing the continent's reliance on conventional energy sources.
Biljana Braithwaite, CEO of Sustineri Partners and one of the organizers of the ESG Adria Summit 2024, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Obnovljivi izvori energije, Sistem MNE, and Simes Inženjering: “The energy transition proved to be a great development opportunity for Montenegro and even in the time of the energy crisis some of the big investment energy projects have been launched. Thank you to company Obnovljivi izvori energije and their founding companies, for recognizing ESG Adria Summit, as a regional platform to share best practices and vision behind green energy transition. Your remarkable achievements so far, only show us that we can expect so much more shortly.”
In conclusion, the success story of Obnovljivi izvori energije is not just a testament to their achievements but also should be an inspiration for the entire industry, driving positive change in the energy sector.
