The Western Balkans ESG Summit, which will be held in Porto Montenegro on 26-28 April 2023, will bring together over 400 senior representatives of governments, international institutions and business community leaders from the region and the world. The Summit will provide a platform for a constructive dialogue on investment opportunities and the faster economic development of the countries in the region through the adoption of sustainable business standards and the development of green innovations and technologies. The Summit is organised by Sustineri Partners and Porto Montenegro under the auspices of the Montenegrin Government, with Bloomberg Adria as our regional media partner.
"The Summit is an opportunity to prepare decision-makers and the business community in the region for applying ESG standards, as the foundations for the protection of the environment, human rights and responsible corporate governance, which are becoming a must for everyone who wants to secure investments or remain competitive in foreign markets, above all the EU market. Some companies in the region have already made substantial headway in applying ESG standards, while most are still familiarising themselves with the obligations and challenges arising from the requirements of the regulators, financial institutions and investors. We believe that this is the right moment for our Summit, which we hope will grow to become a prestigious annual event bringing positive change to society through the launch of strategic initiatives," says Biljana Braithwaite, the Director of the Sustineri Partners consultancy.
"Porto Montenegro has demonstrated Its commitment to sustainable development by implementing numerous projects focusing on environmental protection, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, use of plastic and waste generation, as well as on protecting local species of fish and shells. The Summit is an opportunity to additionally emphasise the importance of these issues in the business community," added Porto Montenegro's representative Danilo Kalezić.
The event is held under the auspices of the Montenegrin Government, which has recognised its relevance: "The Government of Montenegro is strongly committed to socio-economic progress based on the concept of sustainable development and care for every individual. In such circumstances, environmental protection is a process that goes hand in hand with responsible management and the establishment of a stable partnership with socially responsible companies and initiatives. With this topic highly placed on the Government's agenda and appreciating the importance of the concept of sustainable development for Montenegro and the Western Balkans, the Government of Montenegro has supported the idea of Sustineri Partners for the implementation of the upcoming WB ESG Summit.”
Registration for the Western Balkans ESG Summit is open as of today via the Summit platform (www.esgwesternbalkans.com).
